Our Chain of Custody Control System

  • Purchase Orders

On purchase orders to qualified suppliers, certified lumber will be specified.

  • Suppliers Invoices

Suppliers invoices must include the chain of custody certificate registration code.

  • Inventory Sheets

When lumber is received and put in the racks, the quantity and dollar value is recorded on the appropriate inventory sheet.  The lumber in the rack is marked individually to differentiate uncertified wood if necessary.

  • Balance Sheet

The appropriate asset account is debited according to the corresponding inventory sheet.

  • Job Number and Sheet

When a job is started, a job sheet is created and a number given.  The lumber is pulled, scaled, and recorded on the job sheet — quantity and source.  That amount (board footage and dollar) is subtracted from the inventory sheet.  The appropriate inventory account is credited and the materials expense account is debited.  At the point in the job process when the wood is matched into individual furniture pieces (ready to assemble), the job number is stamped on the bottom or inside surface of one of the major component parts.

  • Product Identification Number and Product Card

When a furniture piece is assembled and sanded, a Product Identification Number is assigned to it, stamped on a bottom or interior surface, and written in ink with the signature.  A product card is created for each piece of furniture at the time of stamping and signing.  The I.D. number and job number is recorded on the card.  When the furniture is sold and shipped, the customer's name is written on the card.

  • Hang Tag

hang tag -- fronthang tag -- back

When a furniture piece is finished, a tag is attached giving the I.D. number and information about use and care.  This tag includes information about forest conservation, the FSC and SCS, and our certification number.  This tag will be designed so that, if a piece is not built of certified lumber, the FSC logo and attending information can be cut from the use and care instructions.

  • Company Invoice

When a piece of furniture built of certified lumber is sold, the product I.D. number will be entered on the item line.  An acknowledgement that the piece of furniture has been built of certified lumber and our chain of custody certification number will be stamped on the invoice.
