Oil finished walnut is rich and dark.  We do not stain it.  We use little sapwood, but what we use we do not try to hide.  Rather, we display it in controlled splashes of light.  Most commercial walnut is steamed to blend the light sapwood with the dark heartwood, but this takes many of the reddish and purple highlights from the wood and often causes blotching.  Our walnut is sawn and/or selected for us by Irion Lumber Company and is kiln dried without steaming.
