Zachary Weeks' Biographical Sketch
Woodwork has been a part of my life as long as I can remember. Growing up in East Texas, I was fascinated by building things. Some of my earliest memories are from my father’s woodshop. After my family moved to Wimberley when I was five, I started to learn more and more. In those days I didn’t work on things for my dad, I just tinkered around on my own small projects. Most of what I did was either a toy boat or toy gun. All those years of messing around gave me the necessary skills for what I do now for Gary Weeks and Company. It also gave me great hand to eye coordination and steady hands.
Those years of woodwork are probably the reason that I am studying engineering today. I am currently an engineering student at Texas Tech University in Lubbock. The only times that I still work for my dad are during summertime and for a short time over the Christmas holidays, but it is a great break from school to be able to go home and do something different. I will continue to work for my dad until I become a full time engineer.
I am very glad that I was able to work for my father all these years. It has given me a good work ethic and an excellent eye for detail. My experiences working with wood will stay with me always and I consider myself very lucky to have had the chance. |
