From time to time, we find extraordinary wood and make a rocking chair of it. Woods that fall outside of our standard cherry, walnut, maple, and sapele offerings. Each special edition uses the same ergonomic form as the Weeks Rocker®, sculpted to support the natural curvature of the spine and guaranteed to be the most comfortable rocking chair you have experienced.

Pecan Rocker and Footstool
Pecan is known for being the hardest and heaviest timbers native to our landscape. It offers a complex visual story with colors ranging from rich browns to pale creams. It often features dramatic "calico" streaks where the colors collide. Because of its extreme hardness, it is very difficult to work with, but the result is a chair with a rugged, heirloom durability that feels as unyielding as the Texas soil it grew from.

White Oak Rocker
White Oak has long been a cornerstone for furniture making, prized for its durability. It has a sophisticated, neutral palette of light browns and wheat tones. Unlike other species, oak features medullary rays which create a shimmering, ribbon-like "ray fleck" pattern. Ebonized Ash Rocker
Ash trees grow straight and true. The straight grain is easy to match into coherent compositions of figure in the parts and the whole. The wood is hard, tough, and strong; it has very prominent figure with open pores. The open pores are emphasized by the black stain. Light reflecting from the pores gives a subtle, patterned luster to the surface--very pleasing to the eye. Have a look at the photo of the seat in the carousel above (click the arrow).
