Gary Weeks

I helped my father build a picnic table. I was just old enough to push the handsaw through the redwood. I can still smell that wood. Our table had a flaw. If its attached benches were not evenly weighted, it would tip over. I became interested in design.

Dad and Uncle Charles showed me how to use tools and trust common sense. We had a farm. The Dallas Public Schools and the University of Texas gave me a good education. I chose a life as a craftsman. I studied, read, and drew. I remodeled, restored, designed, and built buildings and the cabinets, doors, windows, and furniture that went in them.

When the kids were small, I didn’t want to work out of the truck anymore. I wanted a product, or a few, and colleagues to help make them. Chairs being the challenge of the craft, I designed a rocking chair in 1992, and after success with it, I designed some dining chairs and tables. The first seven years were tough.

I work with my son and my wife. Austin runs the shop. Leslie keeps the books true and clean. We work with friends. Together, we serve the craft, the community, and those who commission and support us.

Austin Weeks

My interest in working with wood began at a very young age. Throughout my childhood my reverence and appreciation for the material was cultivated by both its abundance in my life and my father's teaching. Today, I feel a distinct connection with wood and its origins, trees and forests. That generational knowledge and a lifetime working wood are the basis for my stewardship of the craft at Gary Weeks & Co.

It has been a privilege to create and grow the product line we offer and the business it has allowed. Our benchmark piece, The Weeks Rocker®, has earned a reputation for refined craftsmanship, exceptional comfortable, and enduring beauty. It remains the defining piece of our collection and a favorite among patrons, friends, designers and families who appreciate enduring craftsmanship. My handwork goes into nearly every piece we build, so I take some personal pride in the final quality and appearance of the furniture. Every piece is built with meticulous attention to detail and a quest to reveal the unique beauty and character of each board we select.

We believe the finest furniture can gain beauty with age. It should invite daily use, develop character through the years, and become part of a life story. In an era of disposable goods, we carefully commit to creating high quality, limited run pieces intended to endure for generations.

I consider it my good fortune to work alongside a close-knit team of craftspeople who share our commitment to excellence, continual refinement and the standards our patrons can expect. Each of our makers is a formidable craftsperson in their own right, with artistry, skill and judgement worthy of the work and legacy. While some methods evolve, our purpose remains: to build furniture with lasting beauty, integrity and usefulness to the people we serve.

As a member of the Weeks family, my roots are entwined with the roots of the company here in the Texas Hill Country. It is a heritage of bringing meaningful tactile beauty to the lives of our patrons through craft. I am honored to carry these standards and the legacy of Gary Weeks and Company, and hope to shape the next chapter with my daily work.

Leslie Weeks

She comes to the shop to pay the bills, pay the makers, balance the books, and keep the statements clean and straight.

Bela Weeks

I have lived in Wimberley my whole life, living right next door to the shop as well as my grandparents house. After graduating from the University of Arkansas, I have come back to continue my time working in the family business.

After growing up seeing all of the Gary Weeks & Company furniture in my house, learning how to make it is quite an amazing feeling. Working alongside family members is something not many people get to experience and I am very grateful to have the opportunity to do so.

Autumn Keese

I moved to Wimberley in 2001 to raise a family and plant some roots. I had no set direction professionally but knew I wanted to work for people I believed in, making something I believed in. Luckily, The Weeks took a chance on me in 2016 and I have been learning ever since. I find great satisfaction in what we do and honored to be a part of it.
