From the first moment I sat in a Gary Weeks rocking chair, I knew I wanted one. I'd never sat in a solid wooden rocker that felt so comfortable, rocked so smoothly and gave me such a sense of being held so safely!  It was even more astonishing that people of different heights and body builds said the same thing: "this chair FITS me"!  I ran into members of the Weeks family business at various regional shows through the years, so I kept being reminded of how much I wanted one. I'm embarrassed to say how many years I waited to follow through on this promise to myself, but this year for Christmas I finally bought one! I am so very happy to have this beautiful, comfortable, and superbly-crafted hand-made furniture gracing my home at last.

As an added bonus, I live close enough to Wimberley that I was able to pick up my new chair in person. I am so glad I did!  I got to meet Gary and one of his sons, and tour the woodworking shop.  As a fellow woodworker, I am in awe of the shop - from the custom jigs, the workflow layout, the dust collection slides and gates - just all of it. But the best part was listening to Gary tell about the evolution of the tools and the process. It was a real treat for me that just adds to my appreciation of the actual chair. I know not every buyer is able to have this kind of bonus experience, but if you are in the area, call ahead and ask if a tour is possible.  Even if you're not a woodworker, if you like seeing how things are made, a shop tour is well worth the time and effort. 

Now, if only we could get airlines to use Gary's comfortable seat design….

Dear Gary and staff,

I just received my Walnut rocker yesterday in perfect condition.  I knew from my research I would receive a really good rocker.  When it was unpacked, my breath was taken away.  It’s a really excellent rocker.  The execution is flawless.  The transition of the parts is exceptional.  You have really exceeded my expectations.  As an amateur woodworker, I can only dream of ever getting that good at what you guys do.  Last but not least, it is the most comfortable rocker I’ve ever sat in.  Keep up the fabulous work.

I have not a shred of doubt that your furniture will stay with us for life and will serve us just as the rocker has for the past 13 years (by the way, it looks better with time). And the way we got here, you and us, was a rewarding experience. It is not just a table and four chairs one can buy somewhere off the shelf; it’s a member of the household now.

On a lighter note, thanks for the circles around the screws on the crating. They made the unpacking much easier. And it is a pity that you could not see those who passed by when I was undoing the crating: obviously, I had to do it in the street as there was no way of carrying the wooden box up a flight of stairs that separates the street from our door. Nobody asked the question but I could unmistakably read it in their faces: what on earth can possibly be inside?

Sure, do use any of my quotations although your furniture needs no advertising.

Austin, it was a real pleasure. Please do extend my regards to your father and our thanks to everyone who worked on those items.

The Weeks Rocker is the most comfortable chair I’ve ever owned—even surpassing my Eames Lounge. Its sculpted wood design provides real lumbar support and perfect ergonomics that gently pull you into proper posture. Unlike cushioned chairs that let you sink and slouch, the firmness and contour of the rocker allow my muscles to fully relax, much like a well-designed firm mattress. Good morning Weeks Family - The rockers were a big hit! B. and I love continuing the legacy of Weeks furniture in our hill country home - from straight back chairs of your early days, to new counter stools and now these 4 lovely porch rockers. Every morning we were there with a cup of coffee, and again in the evenings with a good book or a glass of wine while the younger adults grilled! J and I continue to marvel at (and enjoy) the comfort of fit of your rocker design. She is short(er) and I, not so short, but we both seem to fit the curve of the chair. (both seat and back perfectly) Although I have never experienced a Sam Maloof rocker, I cannot imagine that it would be superior…thank you for your timeless design and continued craftsmanship...

Gary, Austin & Autumn,We received our chair the day after Christmas in its special packaging ;-). Got it unboxed and in the house and went for the big test...the chair molds perfectly to my junky spine! And is drop dead gorgeous. ...I've spent about 15 hours in it so far and it is just amazing how it supports me perfectly. With L2 to S1 disc ruptures, this was a large leap of faith, but the extraordinary detail you provide on your website about your product and your methods was instrumental in my decision to purchase.
The look, the amazing quality in detail in the construction... has my wife asking when can we get another one! We both loved the 'included' Christmas Tree painting...I'm not sure I can put it in the recycle bin!

Earlier this week we received our walnut rocker and love it. We wanted to buy one to check the fit before buying a second. It's super comfortable for both of us so we're ready for a second one and a side table to go between the two.

My cousin... has two of your rockers and also dining room chairs, and every time I sit in one, I hate to leave. The rockers and chairs are just as amazing as you describe!

...Now that I have the rocker in my house, every guest who sits in it has remarked that they feel it was custom made just for them. ...I hope to buy more some day!

I bought that rocking chair for my wife when we were having our first baby. We lived in a 700SF apartment with our new baby, in a new place, with me gone Mon-Fri preparing to go to war.

After 3 babies, a war, 8 addresses in 8 years, grad school for both of us, we finally live in a much more stable “white picket fence” American Dream now, but that rocking chair sits proudly as the only thing left from that 1st apartment. Also, that first baby girl, now a senior in high school, has claimed the chair for all family movie nights.

We just received our second shipment of dining room chairs, the first shipment being about a year ago. They are wonderful, along with the maple rocker we purchased last year.

One of the best touches we have had is to meet the gal who actually made the rocking chair and delivered the chair! Autumn delivered the chair on the way to her Thanksgiving holiday with family. I was surprised at how young she is and how accomplished she is in woodworking. She delivered a top quality rocker...


You have grown the business so much, I practically don't recognize you. Ken and I bought our rocker several years earlier when your website was a little older and a lot fuzzier in appearance. The website is so professional compared to back then. I first found you by searching the web for rocking chairs that fit both short and tall people. Our family has people from 5 feet to 6'3”...


I love the Weeks rocking chair and frequently have people sit in it just for the experience, because it is such a lovely experience. The balance of the rocker makes for a soothing rock instead of a store bought clunky rock that requires more force to keep it going and "jumps" halfway through the rock because it isn't balanced properly. (think the white porch rockers that are sold everywhere or the more expensive rockers in a furniture store--there is simply no comparison)


Again, your craftsmanship is superb!
