Thank you so much for the chair . . . It is so beautiful. There was no damage to the crate at all. When it was delivered today I knew I was in for a real treat when I saw how much care and attention to detail went into building the crate alone. Even the screw holes on the crate were countersunk. There was more attention to detail in the crate alone than most people put into building their chairs. The chair is truly a beautiful work of art. I can't wait to give it to my wife on her birthday. She is going to be so excited. The only thing I am not happy about is that it has to stay at my parents house for the next month until her birthday.

True to your word the chair is comfortable for people of all sizes. My mom is 5'-04" tall and she loves it, my dad is 6'-00" tall and he loves it, and I am 6'-04" and I love it. Thanks again, you have blessed my family with a chair that will be with us throughout our lives and give us a lifetime of memories and happiness.

Yes, I meant to e-mail you earlier! The chair is fine. I love it. BAX Global was easy to deal with, and they even specified a range of four hours for delivery, which was helpful.

Just so you're informed, there was a small hole in one side of the box, about large enough for a finger, but it was opposite the back of the chair. No problem.

It's really soothing to have the beautiful, comfortable chair and stool.

Yes, S. got the rocker on Monday!! I've been out of town since then, and just got home to the good news. Hi Gary,

I meant to write you as soon as the chair was delivered on August 2nd, but it turns out we were busy with another delivery that day. Our daughter was born at 10pm! Grandpa came home from the hospital to receive the chair, where it sat until I opened the crate this morning.

It is now our favorite place to nurse, cuddle, and contemplate our amazing little N. (as you can see in the attached picture). The chair is truly beautiful, and I'm very happy with our choice of cherry.

I meant to e-mail you earlier. The rocker chair arrived about 11:30am with no problems. I had to laugh a bit at the delivery because it was delivered in a full-size semi and when the driver opened up the back to take the chair out, the whole truck was empty except for the one box with the chair. I asked the driver about it and he just said it was a slow day.

Anyway, the chair is beautiful and we are having lots of fun sharing it. I'm sure this will give us many, many years of enjoyment.

I unpacked it from the crate and it fit right in the back of my Jeep Liberty with the seats down. It is a beautiful thing, a real work of art. Dear Austin,

Thank you for your email. I had called to schedule an appointment for delivery today, and waited all afternoon. Finally, I called the delivery place and they said that the rocking chair was missing. I asked what I could do now. They said they should be able to find it within the next couple of days. I told them I was upset that I wasted the afternoon awaiting the delivery. They apologized and said that they would deliver it within a 1 hour window once it is found.

I just thought I should let you know that the delivery service you have used has treated your customer in this way. I am not happy about this situation, but seem to have no other choice. Currently, I have a six week old baby and a visitor from Australia stuck in the house for one day and now we'll have to be here again, when they find the chair.

Otherwise, I have been happy with your service, and would suggest you to others, though maybe not your delivery service.

I was out of town last week. I am chagrined to return and find that your chair has not been delivered and that you were stood up by Overnite. I am very sorry for your inconvenience and for the delay.

Overnite is a large company with terminals throughout the states. When their system works well, as it almost always does, they are amazingly fast and reasonably priced. When it doesn't, they appear to be a clumsy bureaucracy. Again I regret that you have experienced the latter.

Austin, my son, has been calling N. at the San Diego terminal, and I called him today. Apparently, or most likely, the chair was loaded onto the wrong trailer at some point between us and you and will soon be discovered out of place and delivered. I just called the terminal manager in Austin, our local terminal, who verified that, when this occurs, the missing item soon reappears.

I would like to give Overnite a few days to deliver your chair. If they have not delivered a chair to you this week we will finish one of the chairs we are now working on for you.

The chair arrived in perfect condition. It took me awhile to unpack the crate. That was one very large box. The box is still on my front porch. I had already re-arranged my bedroom in preparation, but found that with the chair and the stool, I needed to re-arrange again. That of course led to re-arranging all the pictures on the walls as well! Several hours later, the chair and the rest of the furnishings in my bedroom are in place.

Thank you for a very comfortable chair. I was a little concerned when I saw it that it might be too large since I am only 5 feet tall. You said it would fit someone my height and it does. I look forward to many years of use. The stool is beautiful in its simplicity and I am enjoying it as well. Thank you.

The table and chairs arrived Tuesday, and I just got the time to unwrap them last night. They are beautiful, as expected, and the table is indeed a nice size and looks good with just the two chairs. My small dinette set for two is perfectly proportioned; we did an excellent job of deciding upon the right size for the table top.

The color of the wood is not quite what I expected. It is a very neutral brown without any discernable red, green, or purple tinge, and it is a little lighter than anticipated. It is quite simply "brown" and, being not too dark and not too light, I am confident that it will go well in any setting I may find for it. (I plan to move a lot in the next few years.)

The grain on the table top is beautiful, and as you say, it is difficult to see the seams where the boards are glued together. I even went as far as to tape a piece of twine from edge to edge, along the seams to expose them. Still, there are areas where the grain of one board flows so well into the grain of the next, that it is quite impossible to follow any seam the entire length of the table!

The chairs are comfortable, just like my others, and I don't think I will miss the arms at all. The figure of the grain on the seat tops is stunning. Too bad most people won't see it, with the chairs shoved up to the table.

Thanks again for your work and dedication. You truly produce works of art. I am eagerly anticipating the introduction of the extra-large rocker. (Get to work!!) Hopefully by the time I retire. :-)

Hi Gary,

I was going to write you an email today, but it looks like you beat me to it . . . :) Yes, I did get the chair yesterday and it is more beautiful than I'd imagined it! It is as much a piece of art as it is a piece of furniture . . . The original design, the quality of the wood, and the impeccable craftsmanship makes it a one of a kind piece!

I would give the overall experience a 10/10 if it wasn't for the delivery . . . The delivery company would not deliver on Saturdays, and could only give me 4-hour windows in the morning or afternoon. That doesn't work for any person working full-time, as it effectively requires one to take a full day off. The Stickely dresser I bought a few months back was delivered on a Saturday morning, and that worked out perfectly. As the Overnite Transportation warehouse was just a few miles away from my office, I ended up driving there during lunch break to pick up the chair myself. The crate would not fit in my Honda Pilot, so I had to disassemble it on-site . . . Quite an ordeal. In short, I'd suggest that you look into using a delivery company that does Saturday deliveries.

Many apologies for the delay in my thank you. The move to my new home was successful and you were great at rerouting the delivery of the cherry rocker and stool. Simply put the rocker and stool are superb! The packaging was beat up a bit as expected but the cherry rocker and stool were not harmed in any way. Going over them entirely by hand with my eyes closed, there were no snags or hang ups to be found and it was as smooth as my new baby's skin. I am 5'6" and my husband is 6' yet it fits us both like gloves. I am very impressed and rock my 6 month old son in it very comfortably.

The rocker arrived in perfect condition mid-November. We've been enjoying it very much. B. gave birth to our first child last week and they love spending time rocking together. There is one slight problem: when B. nurses Z. in the chair, she can't rock or he'll fall right to sleep! I apologize for not letting you know that my rocker arrived safe and sound. I was immediately impressed with the quality — both your craftsmenship and the wood. Wow! It's a beautiful chair, artwork really. I have the chair next to a cherry wood bookcase, that I loved when I first received it, but it does not stand up to the chair (I am thinking of painting it — the bookcase, not the chair!)

It took me awhile to get used to the chair and be sure I was going to love rocking in it. I was surprised by how much I leaned back in it. I'm one of those people who is most comfortable sitting up straight. I rarely lean my seat back on an airplane. I love the look of Windsor chairs, but feel like I am sitting in a lounge chair when in one. I like to read in my rocking chairs and have a little trouble doing that in the rocker. But I did finally break down the crate last weekend. I do love sitting in it relaxing at night watching tv or chatting with my husband. We'll see how the reading goes. I think paper backs have some potential!

Oh yes! It made me so happy I felt silly and self conscious at the effusive email I began writing to you soon after it arrived. I decided to wait until I cooled off a bit.

It's everything you said it would be. My husband, seven year old son and I all agree it's incredibly comfortable and beautiful. A true heirloom piece. Wow. We love it! We touch it all the time. My son accuses me of sitting in it too much. I had to agree to take turns.

I am so happy and grateful that you and your people came through. I've dealt with a lot of different dealers and contractors recently. Most have been very disappointing to work with . . . problems with communication, integrity, quality and other issues have clouded the interaction. It's strangely life affirming to deal with you and have everything happen as promised. Whew! What a relief! THANK YOU!

Hi Gary,

The two Wilson Arm Chairs arrived. There was a small ding in the middle of one side corner of the box; we cut part of the box away which showed that there was lots of clearance between the corner and the foam inside.

The two chairs are as beautiful as we thought they would be and we're very pleased with the way that they sit — they are very comfortable!

One last thing — my wife says that when we have company, we will have to install one of those number dispensers (like at some delis) at the door of the study — where the rocker now lives.

Yes Gary the chair has arrived and my wife really does love it. It arrived on Tuesday and I have been so busy we just unpacked it last night. I received it and reviewed the packaging which was in great shape. The chair is in fine shape as well. I was very impressed with the craftsmanship especially with regard to the attention paid to the grain in the wood and how it all came together in the construction of the chair. As you had promised and we expected this will be one of the highly cherished parts of our family for many generations.

Hi Gary,

I just had a very exciting morning. The Plycon guys delivered the dining set today, a whole week early! I have to tell you that I am floored with your expert craftsmanship. A huge thank-you to your entire team. I only had a few moments to admire the satin smooth finish and enjoy the heft of the chairs before setting off to work, but dinner tonight will be a treat. I am extremely pleased with the set.

All the pieces were very well protected and everything seemed snugly wrapped. In fact, the delivery guy took quite a few minutes unraveling each piece. I only want to add that the delivery guy did ding one of the arm chairs. After unwrapping the chairs in the truck, he grabbed two chairs and tried to get them into the house all at once. Unfortunately, when he came up the porch steps, one of the chair tops banged into the ceiling overhang of the covered porch. I was rather disappointed with his carelessness, and I just wanted you to be aware of it. I'm not sure if this was an isolated incident with the particular delivery guy, or a mark of company, Plycon. I suggested that he bring in the rest of the pieces one at a time, which he did. Other than that, the delivery went very smoothly.

As for the ding in the chair back, I ran a barely-damp cotton cloth gently over the ding a couple of times, and got the white paint off. Can I use some lemon oil to get the luster back? Or should I hold off, until the chair cures a bit? The ding is very shallow, and about the width of a grain of rice. It isn't particularly noticeable (now that the paint is gone), but I just want to treat it right, and keep it protected.

C., I am delighted that you like your furniture and dismayed at the careless delivery. I have a simple repair that you can do to make the chair arm good as new; I just regret that you have to do it.

Rereading your note, I see that the ding is on the back of an arm chair, rather than the arm of the arm chair. Anyway, I can mail a repair kit to you with instructions, oil, and sandpaper. You can use a clothes iron and a damp cloth to drive steam into the compressed fibers, swelling them back to the surface. The following day, you can lightly sand with a very fine grit and apply a bit of the hand-rubbed oil finish that we use. You will need to lightly sand and re-coat on a subsequent day to get the sheen back. I am upset to put this on your plate, but it is not difficult or very time-consuming. The other options are:

1. Do nothing and consider that the first ding in the Charlene era of this long lasting furniture came too early.

2. Say to me: "Gary, you promised that the furniture would be delivered as new; I am hesitant to make this repair. Will you do it for me?" I will have it brought to me; I will repair it, and return it.

I hope you remain a "happy girl." I will do my part to keep it so.

The chair arrived Friday about five in the afternoon.

Though I read the dimensions, it is much bigger than I imagined. It arrived in perfect condition. The workmanship and the wood are beautiful. We are testing it out this week.

At home, I find myself in the rocking chair reading, watching tv (rare for me), talking on the phone, etc. I can't believe how comfortable the chair is. Comfort definitely takes precedence over size. The chair is definitely a "keeper."
