Hi Gary,

Thank you for the note. The chair was delivered on Monday without any issue. My wife and I could not be happier with it! The chair puts to rest my preconceived notion that cushioned furniture is by definition more comfortable than wooden furniture. While our current apartment does not have sufficient space, I look forward to the day we can order a dining room table and chairs from your shop!

Thanks again,

S.W.

Dear Gary,

Thirty years ago my wife Judith purchased a maple rocker from you for my birthday. Today it looks the same as when it was packaged and delivered to us. I really have not done anything to it except wipe it clean from time to time. The natural oils from my arms have assisted in keeping it’s natural beauty. It has always been a perfect fit ergonomically and is a joy to sit in and read. The chair has moved with us to the Middle East, Los Angeles (Woodland Hills), Washington DC and twice to Austin.

Thank you for your craftsmanship and care.

S.W.

Hi, Gary,

Yes, the chair came last Friday, right on time. I’m completely delighted with it! It is beautiful, and so very comfortable. My friends all want to sit there when they visit.

K.E.

My rocker is absolutely gorgeous and extremely comfortable.

P.S.

Thanks, Gary. I enjoy this chair and footstool more every day. What a simple, well-made pleasure!

D.O.

Gary – thanks for your note. The rocker is setup in the main bedroom and we have already gotten great use out of it. It’s the most comfortable seat in the house!

R.M.

Gary,

My mom was beyond thrilled with the beautiful walnut rocker! The rocker sits proudly in the library by the fireplace-just like when she was growing up. Many years of comfort and gentle to and fro await her. Thank you for making her day extra special for us with something handcrafted with love.

K.A.

Hi Gary,

Thanks for writing. I was just showing them off to some friends yesterday. They’re beautiful, comfortable and unique.

B.L.

The chair is certainly beautiful and comfortable.

C.K.

Gary and all of your helpers,

Thank you for the beautiful rocking chair and footstool. It is gorgeous and very comfortable. Oh so lovely.

Thank you,

S.A.

Rocker was delivered 08-08 in excellent condition. I've been enjoying its beauty and comfort ever since.

J.M.

Gary,

Dave received the rocker on Tuesday and is very happy with it. It is a perfect fit for the room.

Thanks for your excellent craftsmanship; it's hard to believe that it's been over twenty years since we visited your shop in Texas.

Best regards,

--S.G.

We love the rocker! The cherry wood is a perfect color. The finish is so smooth, even in underneath areas! You obviously take a lot of pride in making your furniture.

J. & P.W.

Dear Gary, Austin, and Autumn,

The three pieces arrived today, carefully carried into the space by Plycon’s delivery folk. No damage of any sort, just a little tape residue here and there which comes off with a microfiber cloth.

And the pieces are beautiful. The photos on the web site made me confident, as did the explanations of how the designs came to be and were executed, but pictures just can’t capture what you have made for us. We’re particularly struck by the quiet elegance, the subtle detail, the way that all the furniture somehow combines a sort of humility and practicality with sheer beauty. And of course the craftsmanship is superb.

We’ve looked at lots of rockers over the years (Portland is that kind of town), but never found anything that seemed right, shaped to the body, friendly to the eye, confident in its own place in the world but not trying to make a statement. And the desk and accompanying chair are worthy kin.

We feel very lucky to have found your work, and are grateful to all who have put their hands to this project.

Best wishes,

R.K.

Gary. She loves the chair and I continue to be impressed with your craftsmanship.

C.R.

Hi Gary,

It was a real treat visiting with Autumn as well... really enjoy the chair… It is in fact one of the most comfortable chairs I have ever been in…

Beautiful as well.

Wish you all the best of luck!

A.P.

Even the animals know comfort when they feel it. Our new kitten has claimed her new favorite spot!!

H.R.

Hi Gary,

I hope this finds you and family well!

Having some of your furniture over here continues to be a daily delight. Less than Zero buyer's remorse.
I still can't believe how great living with a few of your team's creations has been.

Kind regards,
B.M.

Our beautiful cherry rocker just arrived Monday morning. I did not get an advance call for 4 hour window so I'm very glad I was home when the driver called to say he would be here in an hour! It was actually perfect timing since the sun is shining right now in Annapolis. We are in a period of expected 10 days of rain so I have been worrying about a possible delivery in a downpour.

Our grandchild was "due" on the 21st so we've been wondering which would come first, the baby or the rocker . You won!

Thank you for being so kind. We look forward to many hours of cuddling our first grandchild in the wonderful rocker. I love handmade things — I'm a pottery student — so appreciate all the attention to details in your work.

A.M.

Gary — Great to hear from you. Please do use the Elkhorn, NE address. Everyone absolutely loves their cherry rocker, including K and I. We're certain that #5 will be no exception. Still working on #10 being free, but may take a lifetime. In all seriousness, thanks for all you do.

B.H. & K.H.

Gary — very nice to hear from you as always. I was delayed in responding, because we spent the past week on grandparenting duty in Philadelphia, taking care of our 10-month-old granddaughter while our daughter and son-in-law were out of town. I can tell you that the rocker and table that you made for our daughter look great and are very well used!

We and our friends and family are enjoying all of our white Gary Weeks porch rockers as well — although we have had some hot spells, the difference between here and Texas is that the hot spells are broken up by cool spells. It was 55 degrees when we got up this morning, and the high today will be 80 degrees — we drank coffee and read the paper in two of your rockers on our porch, and I suspect that we will will spend more time in them later today as well.

Glad to hear that you have been able to spend time with your grandchildren as well — that's really what it's all about.

Enjoy the rest of the summer, and best wishes for continued success in the business (and for its founder to have time to get away as well).

Best.
J.B.

Gary,

Thank you for the follow up. Yes, the chair and foot stool arrived yesterday morning. It is beautiful and appears to be in excellent shape! The engraving is perfect.

Thanks and Happy 4th,
S.Z.

Thank you for checking in! We're really pleased with the chairs — they truly are comfortable and are beautiful to the eye and to the hand.

Best wishes to you and all your staff--
J.W.

Gary,

Thank you so much for your thoughtful note. We also have been traveling, hence the rather late acknowledgement of how thrilled we are with our new rocker. It is so beautiful, a real work of art. And more important it is equally comfortable for myself (5'2") and my husband (6'1"). Would not have believed that to be possible. We are so happy with our chair, thanks again.

Appreciatively,
P.F.

Thank you Gary. After a painful injury and surgery five years ago, I had been unable to find a chair in which I could sit comfortably. Your rocker fixed this problem — I was able to feed my grandson this morning without pain.

I suspect this will not be my last Gary Weeks rocker.

Many thx.
R.H.

Dear Gary,

I appreciated finding such a company as yours in the town I grew up in. The chair arrived timely, the day before our first of twins was discharged from the NICU. With twins we justified having two chairs. My wife has a fancy glider with cushions and I prefer my walnut rocker. It was a splurge but I tried to make one and it was taking too long!

Thank you,
D.S.

Hi Gary,

My enthusiasm is borrowed from my dad, who owns two of your rockers and is a little obsessed. :) My parents have a kitchen table and chairs from you too. He's been singing your praises for years, and I'm glad we can finally lay claim to our own Gary Weeks furniture!

Thank you!

M.M.

I have the privilege of owning a 2003 model rocking chair. I love it still.

Sincerely,
T.M.

Hi Autumn!!

It was great to meet you and thank you for hand delivering the chair! G loves it . . . We went inside and she cried . . . it was something she's wanted for a long time!!

She loves it!

Thank you and the Weeks family!

Take care

M.A.

We absolutely love them! Thanks!

D.E.

It arrived intact and is beautiful, thank you!

S.P.

Gary,

They received it and love it!! Thanks so much for your excellent craftsmanship and phenomenal customer service!!

Best,
E.J.

Hi Gary,

I just rocked my daughter, L, to sleep on your chair. Me, T and L love it and everyone that's seen it has asked where we got it from. Also, the plaque came in the mail today. Looks great and thanks for sending it to us.

N.S.

Gary,

Everything from start to finish was amazing. The people working with you take pride in every aspect of work being done for your customers. The chair is perfect and my family will enjoy it for generations. Please thank your team for me.

Thank you.

K.F.

Gary

Thanks for the follow up email Gary — that is not necessary, but very much welcome and is an excellent display of customer service and satisfaction!

Jealous of your Italian sojourn, I am sure you returned well rested and well fed!

Regarding the rocker: yes — we very much realize now that the value in the piece is frankly lower than the asking price (while also recognizing that the true value would put the rocker out of our reach . . . so we've both come to appreciate your pricing!).

The only problem is that S now claims the rocker as her exclusive domain. Whereas we used to read nighttime stories together while rocking, I'm now relegated to an adjacent seat while S gets to rock comfortably by herself as she listens to the story! I guess it is her chair, ultimately, but I can't say I appreciate being kicked out of it! LOL.

Thanks again for the kind note! Until next time! (we've had our eye on your bar stools for a while now, and are waiting for some cash to free up)

J.J.

Gary

They turned out beautiful and A. and C. are thrilled to be part of The Weeks family now.

Thanks for your dedication to the craft. There are not many of us left!

Respectfully

B.F.

Gary,

I apologize for not responding the day my rocking chair, stool and table arrived (That day I wrote my feelings on a sticky note and stuck the note to my office phone. They exceeded all my expectations. They are beautiful, comfortable and have a quality that evokes feelings of harmony and peace within me. Plus, I love to sit in the chair, put my feet on the stool take a book from the table and read. In short you all have made me very happy. Thanks to all of you. It will all be used, but reverently.

Italy sounds great. A few years ago, J. and I spent a couple of weeks at Montestigliano, wonderful olive farm/villa 12 miles outside Siena. Hadn't been in Italy since '68 when I rode a Vespa all through Rome. Glad you got away and to such a special place. Curious to see if there is a Renaissance touch to future furniture.

Thanks again I can't tell you how much I enjoyed the process and love the result. I am bragging about "Gary Weeks and Company Furniture Makers" to everyone.

G.H.

Hi Gary and Austin,

We have so much enjoyed our lovely rocker that somehow we managed to ship down to St John USVI in 2011.

You may have heard that St John took a direct hit last September from a Category 5 hurricane. Winds in our hill were clocked at 280 mph, when the machine measuring them broke. It was followed 2 weeks later by another Category 5 (Maria) which devastated Puerto Rico and thoroughly soaked whatever was left on St John. We lost our roof, our wooden decks, and most of our wooden furniture from moisture and mold, but . . . . MIRACULOUSLY, not our rocker! It is virtually the only wooden piece left, and we treasure it all the more.

Best,
J.M.

Dear Autumn,

My rocker and stool arrived yesterday in perfect condition.

I just wanted to tell you and Gary and whoever worked on these beautiful pieces how exquisite they are — perfectly stunning. The comfortable design, incredible craft, gorgeous use of the wood — they are works of art.

I may have mentioned that I am an amateur woodworker and while I'll never make a piece like these, my appreciation runs deep. When my daughter has children I hope she'll nurse them in this rocker. Or maybe I'll have to get her one for herself since I may not be willing to share.

Thank you, and all best wishes for your success,

R.M.

Hi Gary and Autumn

We received our rocking chairs on April 12th!!! Everything in perfect condition. They are so beautiful, elegant, simple and soooo comfortable, we love them!!! We have been really looking them over and are in awe at the beauty of the wood and the craftsmanship. They are first class all the way. Thank You so much! We sit in them every morning and early evening and in between too :) Oh, and we either look out the windows on the little Salmon River (maybe we see a bear or moose or eagle or Spring happening) or are sitting enjoying the fire in the woodstove. Perfect!

Best Regards
L.N. and J.N.

Hi Autumn,

I just wanted to let you know that we received our Cherry Rocker today and my husband and I are completely thrilled!! The color is gorgeous, it's so comfortable and the workmanship and care your team has taken in crafting it is evident throughout. I'm just imagining the hours we'll spend rocking our little girl (who is due in 4 weeks!) in the years to come. It's a piece we'll treasure forever — thank you so much!!

I'm also going to pass along to my parents, my wish to have one of the Harris Stools for my birthday too.
If you hear from C.R. in the near future, that's us!!

I hope you have a great evening. Please let your crew know how wonderful their work is!

A.K.

Gary,

It went well and it was nice to have the custom delivery. The chair is absolutely beautiful and we love the tiger stripe on the surface of the wood. I hope that it keeps that trait as it ages.

I hope to buy two or three more from you in the next 10 years as my sons get married and have children but we will see!

I hope to see you in July.

Take care!
B.F.

And I now have 2! Just received the 2nd as part of your anniversary sale. Great chairs, thank you.

J.K.

Hi Gary,

Thank you for the kind note. Our experience with your company has been great. Autumn did a wonderful job answering all of our questions and building that confidence, plus I really appreciated the ease of paying online with PayPal.

The chair your team designed and built is perfect for us; which is impressive as I am 6'5" and my spouse is barely 5'. Its arrival in our home has created a new house rule: "You move your feet, you loose your seat". If someone gets up from the chair, someone else will instantly sit in it.

We look forward to many more purchases from your company!

Best,
D.G. & M.G.

Hi Gary,

My parents gave me the Weeks Rocker in pecan in 1995 to celebrate the birth of our first child. Many hours have been spent in that chair reading and dozing a little too! I believe my parents (who live in Fort Worth) came upon your rockers at a bed and breakfast — and hunted you down to place the order.

That rocking chair has moved from Tennesee to Virginia to Florida to Washington State to North Carolina and now resides in Colorado! It has truly traveled coast to coast rocking kids of all ages!

We were thrilled to find you on the Internet — still making the same rocker! We wouldn't change a thing! It is our pleasure to give one to our daughter, B. and her husband to celebrate the same event!

Thank you for your commitment to craftmanship — it is well worth the effort!
A.Q.

My walnut rocking chair has been delivered and I am sitting in it as I type this. I love how the back slats conform to my old back and I enjoy rocking away. The workmanship is outstanding. Haven't found one rough spot on it. My husband, a very critical furniture person, cannot find anything negative to say about it. He loves the walnut as do I. I do believe this is now a family heirloom. My husband thinks he might want one but he has a little difficulty standing up from it. He has had knee surgery recently, so I think that might be the problem. My only question now, do I need to keep it oiled down or polished? Even the delivery man was oohing and aahing over it as he helped me take it out of the packing.

R.H.

We are really enjoying the rocker. It's a work of art made by true artists. We are happy to support a local company like yours.

J.T. & D.T.

Gary

The walnut rocker is every thing we expected to be and sure to become a family heirloom for my son and his family, just like the one for my daughters family.

T.H.

Gary,

We are thankful that craftsmen and women like your company's make such high quality functional works of art. Our two walnut rockers, a small end table, and a small foot stool from your company are pieces of furniture we cherish and will use with pleasure. They will ultimately be family heirlooms to pass on to our sons' families.

Your employee, Autumn, who delivered the rocker a few weeks ago, is one dedicated employee to have driven from Wimberly to Kingwood and back to very carefully deliver our second rocker. Thank her for so carefully getting the chair to us.

Best Regards,
M.M. & M.M.

rocker and stool unveiled: stunning! Thank you! True works of art.

C.D.P.

Hi Gary,

Each of my two daughters has one of your rockers and loves it. Unfortunately, I only have two. ;) I do have a son so there is hope for yet another wedding gift.

My husband of 36 years and the love of my life just passed away. The kids and I are all together this week. Within one hour of our getting all together your loved rockers were part of our conversation. Perhaps one day I will have to buy one for myself. (I was secretly hoping to win one. Lol!)

Thank you.

R.D.

Gary, hi. This message is a bit delayed. Yes, we did receive the rocking chair. It arrived in good condition. It looks great in our home and it is a comfortable to both my wife and I. The few people we have shown it to so far also have been impressed by its form — It really is a great looking chair. We're happy with our purchase and excited that we didn't have to wait 3 months to get it (though we're not sure why the folks down in So. Cal. passed on it).

Next time we're down in Austin maybe we'll work out a way to come by and see your shop. I'd be excited to see it. Will check in on the website from time to time to see if you post anything new from time to time and to see how you update the site in the near future as you mentioned wanting to pursue when we talked a few weeks back.

Thank you.

W.P.

Gary

Thank you for your email. I purchased these rockers to give to two men who have worked for my company for over 30 years. They were not Rolex guys. I had some custom boots made for them and we gave them these rocking chairs. I wanted something unique. Your rockers were perfect. Thank you.

N.S.

I must send you a picture of some of the grandchildren sitting in the rocker. These beautiful art pieces brought great joy and will be cherished for many years to come. We so enjoyed sitting in our rockers in front of the fireplace during those cold days, and we probably will enjoy them again tonight. It is such a pleasure doing business with you. You are a true delight. Also, Autumn has helped us out a lot as well. Thank you for being on this earth and sharing your beauty with us.

P.R. & J.D.

Hi Gary: The Curly Maple is just totally fabulous!! T. and I chose wisely. Thanks to everyone at Gary Weeks for creating such a beautiful and unique work of art!!

Awesome!!

Hi,

Yes the rocker arrived. It is beautiful and my husband enjoys it! Thank you so much for your time. I know we will have lots of memories around the rocking chair.

Blessings,
L.K.

Gary

Yes it arrived in perfect condition just before leaving for Houston. Looking forward to sitting in it inside the house. I'm sure we will enjoy it as much as the ones we have on the porch.

Merry Christmas
D.T.

Mr. Weeks,

I am in receipt of the rocker and it is beautiful. Thanks for such great customer service.

Sincerely,
D.P.

Sorry you are beating me to the punch, Gary. I meant to contact Autumn on Tuesday when the rocker arrived. It is absolutely beautiful and unbelievably comfortable. I couldn't be happier with it! My grandson is coming over for the first time today so we will rock in peace together.

Thank you for your excellent work. Keep it up! I will spread the word about you guys.

Merry Christmas to you and all there.

M.S . & S.S.

Hi Gary,

Oh, I miss the "hold and rock the baby for naps" phase! My youngest is 6 and our third child, and by the time she arrived, I had learned how quickly that phase passes. I savored every moment and miss it so much.

The desk arrived perfectly. The delivery team was a bit nervous it wouldn't fit through the door but it did. And it looks marvelous in the room. I will take and send a picture when it is nighttime!

I am so honored to have this treasure for her, and for her to cherish it as something handmade and to be passed down to her future children. Thank you for making it for us.

Happy Holidays and New Year!
T.L.

Dear Gary,

You have been terrific and we love the chair. If we had need for another one, we would buy one. Thanks again for your graciousness and good cheer.

Regards,
A.K.

Mr. Weeks — You are amazing! Incredible product support! Wow! I have continued my chair experiments. I believe the problem is with my oriental rug. I have tried the chair in various locations . . . but always facing the television. It occurred to me that perhaps the rug has a nap that might interfere, so I turned the chair's back to the tv. Behold! It travels in the opposite direction! Have you ever heard of this problem before? I fear I may be watching tv at right angles from now on.

Thanks again for the offer to look at the chair, but I don't think it is necessary. If you have any ideas for rug-nap-suppression, I would love to hear them!

BTW, for your amusement, you should know that I have mentioned my Weeks chairs in my will. Don't want my kids selling them at a garage sale! Thanks again!

P.W.

Thanks so much Gary. I've also been traveling, and just got the chance to see the rocker earlier this week. I couldn't be happier with it. The quality, craftsmanship, and downright beauty of the chair is wonderful. Thanks for all you do.

D.M.

Gary — thanks for your note. The contest was fun, regardless of the outcome, and we continue to love using your rockers (although we don't use them nearly so much during the period from December through April or so, when it's pretty chilly out on our porch!).

D.J.B.

This arrived in perfect condition. And it's just beautiful! I really like the woodgrain and color. I will take a day or two to decide if I'm shipping the walnut rocker back, that we spoke about. They are both so comfortable that I hate giving one up!

For some weird reason, as I got into my older years, I gravitate toward handmade wood objects. Furniture. Small carvings. Netsuke.
I just can't seem to get enough. It might just be the "collector" in me (which is an insidious disease, by the way — says the man with 200 small carvings!!).

I think it's an inner desire to, somehow, stay connected to the planet and Mother Nature.
Not that I'm one of those "mystical" folks. I think of them more as sculptures and works of art.
Maybe I'm making amends to myself for never having taken the time to develop a craft. Your woodworking skills must give you a great deal of personal joy.

I just read a book called "Why We Make Things and Why It Matters" by Peter Korn, in an effort to understand this fascination of mine.

I will say this — and I know you've heard it before — nobody builds a more-comfortable rocker than you do.
One of the few I've sat in that I do not immediately think "Gee . . . I need a cushion or two."
Nope.
Your rocker reminds me of the hugs my mother used to give me as a child when I sat in her lap being rocked to sleep or comforted after some small malady.
That's the best way I can describe it. It's like being hugged while sitting in Mama's lap.

I'm 64 years young, and she's been long-gone since I was 12 (I was a very late child, and a bit of a surprise — they almost named me "Boo!"). :-)
Next to a very nice antique radio I bought on eBay, this is the only furniture I really care about.

Good job!
Once again — thanks...

G.O.

Just got delivery. It's beautiful!

Thanks,
M.O.

Yes, the chair arrived in perfect order. I am one happy rocker. Congratulations on your superb craftsmanship.

E.B.

Thanks so much for sending the winning photos — they are wonderful! My incredible curly maple chair is one of my favorite possessions and I appreciate your artistry every single day. Rocking in it is like floating in the sky.

B.B.

Dear Gary,

Your new little grandperson will be blessed indeed, to have the kind of family that understands what is really important, is grateful for their share of it, and eager to pass it along.

I was reminded the other day about Maslow's Hierarchy of Human Needs. What you do surely qualifies as an exercise in Self-transcendence, and I hope it never fails to be fulfilling.

I am an audio archivist at the Interlochen Center for the Arts, and as I type this I'm listening to the haunting voice of a cello in the hands of a very young and very talented performer. Please know that you also have the gift to make wood sing.

May the birthing go easy and bring you all great joy!

With appreciation and admiration,
E.G.

Dear Gary,

Congratulations on the 3000th rocker and birth of your daughter's first child. Seattle is a wonderful city, and enjoy Thanksgiving there!

Thank you for your personal note, and know that S. and I continue to rock away and enjoy life in our Weeks treasures.

All best,
D.D.

...We feel very blessed to have you guys close by in and to have the opportunity to buy such beautiful handmade furniture from you. When we visited, it was my first chance to meet Gary. I felt like I was meeting a humble rock star, it was the greatest thing ever.
Can't wait to see our rockers when they're ready and gift them to our kids.

Sincerely,
M.A.B. & R.B.

Hello Gary Weeks and Company,

We want to again thank you for the fine chair and rocker that you sent us. The desk chair is working great for my work and the rocker is working great for resting. It will come inside soon for the winter, but today it is lovely outside.

Again, Many Thanks and Best regards,

C.S. & A.S.

I wanted to let you guys know the rocker and stool arrived yesterday. The box had some dents but the chair and stool are perfect. Good packing! The driver was polite and helpful. Couldn't ask for more.

Thanks,
J.P.

Our mesquite chair is exquisite. Strangely, it matches our pecan table extremely well. We put the pecan table between the pecan and mesquite rockers. What a lovely grouping this is! Thank you Autumn for your help on Saturday, and as always it is a pleasure to see you, Gary. We are so very happy with our treasures.

P.S.

Dear Gary,

Among my values are, "A thing should always be what it's supposed to be" and "Make it a great example of what it is." In the case of this beautiful Weeks Rocker in mesquite wood, you have done it all.

It's supposed to be the world's best rocker and, after a day with it, I'm convinced it is. That it's the best example of a rocker I've ever seen was immediately self-evident.

To this, however, you added the one element that makes it both timeless and priceless to me. You added your personal commitment to excellence, craftsmanship and art. I look at this chair and say to myself, "There's no government on earth that could have done this. Work like this can only be done by individual people who love what they do and are proud of it."

I'm sending along two pictures to illustrate that your customers notice and care about the same details that you care about. You've taken mesquite, hardly known for its symmetry, and added the time and care to create symmetry and a flawless finish from it. This is what transforms it from wood to art and I salute you for embracing the difference.

Only problem is . . . now I want one of everything!

My sincere congratulations to all.

Best regards,
D.W.
