Category: Rocking Chair - As a Gift

Gary

I apologize for not writing sooner — it has been a bit of a whirlwind since we picked it up on Saturday. We only opened it last night. We thought we would try not to but we just couldn't resist taking it out of the crate. It is exquisite . . . I love how the grains match so beautifully. It is truly a work of art.

Of course, we could not resist sitting in it if only briefly and oh my, it is so comfortable. It holds the body just so . . . as if it were made to measure for each one who sits in it. No doubt our family will spend long hours daydreaming in that perfect chair. Indeed, I write stories for my grandchildren and I can already feel one coming on about the magic rocker that will take you anywhere your imagination can go; the magic rocker that fits every body just so. Imagine the adventures that will be had for generations in that perfect chair!

We haven't given the gift yet as we will present it to them on their wedding which is June 21, 2017. Honestly, we are tempted to keep it so it is a good thing the initials are on the chair as we can't hide the fact that it is actually for F.!! We do know that they will love it as much as we do and that it will become a family heirloom.

Oh and I should add that I did not end up having to pay duty. The very kind Canadian Border Officer asked me what was in the crate and I told her the truth. The perfect rocker, hand made in Texas and a wedding gift. She smiled and said have a nice day and a beautiful wedding. So despite a moment of confusion your perfect rocker is already creating good relations!

Many, many thanks

Gary,

Hello . . . And thank you. It's been good to work with you as well. I appreciate your understanding on the quantity adjustments as needs changed. I'm just thinking how to sum up what can be said about the rockers . . . they're just wonderful. You and yours are obviously very skilled at what you do. What a great way to honor W.'s retirees.

Wishing you a fine spring!

Gary,

B.'s son and I opened the carton and bubble wrap today just enough to see the inlay. Even though we had your photo, we couldn't wait any longer to see the real thing. Just wanted to tell you how much we like what we saw! So glad to have the opportunity to do this extra customization to make an awesome chair even more meaningful for A., B. and S.. Thanks, much.

Gary, Becca, and Staff,

I received my cherry rocker today and, like the previous one I ordered several years ago, it is exquisite! It truly is perfect in every detail.
Your chairs are one of the few things in life that are crafted to be handed down to generations, as this one will. I have gifted my older chair to my best friend and life partner who, I'm sure, will pass it down to her beautiful family.

I have a very small condominium and when guests visit, they invariably gravitate to your chair. Everyone remarks how beautiful it is and simply can't believe a wooden rocker can be so comfortable. Honestly, your chair should be displayed in the Smithsonian!!

I'm so glad I decided to have you dowel and spline the chair in maple. A small thing to some, perhaps, but it seems to add an even greater artisan touch to your rocker. As the cherry darkens with age, those details will become even more beautiful.

Thank you again for crafting a piece of artisan furniture that comforts the body and speaks to the soul. Those who own one of your rockers will resonate with that statement.

Warmest Regards
J.

Gary,

The beautiful rocker was delivered to my son Nicholas the other day.

To say he is thrilled with his rocker is an understatement. He said "the chair is nothing short of perfect"!

The chair adds warmth and elegance to his tiny apartment in an historic brownstone in Boston.

As a sleep deprived law school grad studying for the bar exam, the rocker is his quiet get away space!

Thanks to you I was able to give him the perfect gift!

All the best,
K.

Mr. Weeks,

The rocker has arrived, and I don't think it could be more perfect! I've never seen or found something quite so perfect for my wife. You and your shop are amazing. My wife and soon to be son will enjoy this almost as much as I will enjoy seeing them in it.

Best Regards,

Hi Gary,

Thanks for the follow-up. We are thrilled with the rocker. Y'all did a fabulous job making it look brand new. This was a long awaited Mother's Day gift to my wife. She absolutely loves it. I envision that at some point there will be a companion rocker in our living room.

Thanks again,
S.

Thank you so much for all you have done for my sister. The transition from your studio to their home went so well. They absolutely LOVE it. G. has already fallen asleep reading in it . . . all wrapped up in her blanket. I look forward to our paths crossing again. You and Austin made this a fun and warm project for our family.

Most sincerely,

Hello and Happy New Year!!

He's rocking in it now. As I expected, the chair was quite a surprise and an adjustment from what he was sitting in, but he's been in it every day since the 25th, with no complaints. In fact, he even said it's more comfortable than he expected it to be (this is a huge compliment from someone who does not receive gifts well AT ALL).

The delivery arrived without incident on the 22nd. I should tell you that the folks who brought it to me were very helpful unloading, unwrapping and even carting away the packing materials; I think they were eager to see what was inside! It's a beautiful chair, and I know that one day soon, I'll be ordering from you again . . . for me, in walnut!

Thank you so much for all your hard work.

Hiya Gary,

My rocker was delivered today and I have to say it's the nicest Christmas present I've ever received (except for my Schwinn bike in 1973!). I'm sitting in it now. The first time I sat in it (right after it was unpacked) I started rocking and my first thought was, Now what was bothering me?

Many thanks.
